Want to know the secret to successfully reading greens – maybe particularly the slick surfaces at Anniston Country Club? Jake Spott has a deal for you.
The new Anniston CC pro is offering a limited number of players an opportunity to learn the finer points of greens reading with a two-hour clinic at the club Aug. 23.
The AimPoint program (Express Levels 1&2) will be conducted by master instructor John Graham in two shifts and is limited to the first 16 registrants.
“I’ve had a few guys who’ve asked a lot of questions about it,” Spott said. “I reached out to John to make this happen. It’s a pretty neat thing.”
Major champions Adam Scott, Padraig Harrington and Stacy Lewis are among those who have embraced the concept. It’s the technology that drives the green tracking line one sees on Golf Channel telecasts.
“It’s physics, really,” Spott said. “Every single green will have a fall line that is a guaranteed straight putt and he teaches you how to find it. Everybody talks about how fast (ACC’s greens) are. I’m excited to hear what he has to say about it.”
Registration fee is $200 for ACC members and $250 for non-members. Contact Spott in the ACC pro shop (237-8412) for details.
