Donoho back on winning track

The Donoho volleyball team got back on the winning track after a tough start to the week, sweeping Cherokee County and Cedar Bluff in a tri-match Thursday.
The Falcons (19-13) defeated Cherokee County 25-13, 25-20. They defeated Cedar Bluff 25-19, 25-19.
They went into the matches still No. 1 in Class 1A despite losing three of four matches, including two to Oxford, on Monday and Tuesday.
In the Cherokee County match, Jordan Ray had three kills, seven assists, 11 digs and one ace. Camille Fink had five kills, Hanna Christian had four kills and Katie Brown had nine assists and one ace.
Against Cedar Bluff, Ray had six kills, five assists and 11 digs; Christian had five kills; Brown had 13 assists and eight digs; and Madison Huckaby had 13 digs and an ace.
The Falcons return to action Saturday in the Calhoun County Tournament, where they have pulled down a No. 4 seed.
Other county teams in the statewide poll include Sacred Heart (No. 2 1A), Pleasant Valley (No. 9 3A), Jacksonville (No. 3 4A), Saks (No. 7 4A), Alexandria (No. 6 5A) and Oxford (No. 8 6A).
