After clinching the Region 5 title last week, Donoho wanted to make sure it didn’t overlook Appalachian in its next game.
The Falcons didn’t.
Garrett Steed returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, Donoho scored 28 points in the first quarter and the fourth-ranked Falcons rolled to a 48-0 victory.
The game was so one-sided, the Falcons (9-0) threw no passes, never punted and teams agreed to play eight-minute quarters in the second half.
All of Donoho’s offense came on the ground, with six rushers gaining 263 yards. Ben Myrick led the way with 65 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. Trey Brown rushed for 62 yards a two touchdowns and Justin Foster scored twice.
The Falcons’ other touchdown came on a 45-yard interception return by Mitchell Baker. Donoho’s defense held Appalachian to 104 net yards. Parker Morgan had 11 tackles and Sam Garner had 10.
It was Donoho’s sixth shutout of the season.
