FootGolf

Two months after Anniston became the first city in Alabama chartered for FootGolf, the first tournament is scheduled for Anniston Municipal Golf Course.

The inaugural Anniston PARD FootGolf Scramble is set for 9 a.m. Nov. 15. Entry fee for the four-person scramble is $25 per player and includes fees, lunch and prizes. The field is limited to the first 36 registered players.

City officials recently designed a nine-hole FootGolf course on holes 4 through 9 at The Hill. The course will be closed to golf until 2 p.m. while the tournament is underway.

Running

The fifth annual CPT Kyle Comfort Foundation 5K is scheduled for Saturday starting at the McClellan Medical Mall. Proceeds from the event are used to benefit and support service members and families. Organizers are expecting more than 700 participants, an increase of 200 from the year before.

The Piedmont High School softball team will take charge of its second annual Run for Your Life 5K and kids NFL-style combine Nov. 22. The race will start and finish on the high school track while the combine will be staged on the football stadium’s Field of Champions.

The race starts at 9 a.m. with the kids combine starting at 10. Entry fee for the race is $25 ($30 on race day); the kids combine is free. For more information call Rachel Smith at smith.rms@gmail.com

Golf results

Cherokee County’s Ricky Flynt and Bobby Russell won the monthly two-man senior scramble at Twin Bridges Thursday. They shot 8-under-par to beat the field. The next event is Dec. 4.
