JCA quarterback Brackett tops Player of the Year fan voting
By East Alabama Sports Today
The fans have spoken.
Over the past month East Alabama Sports Today asked county football fans to vote their choice for Calhoun County High School Player of the Year and dynamic JCA quarterback Daylon Brackett was the overwhelming choice.
The reigning Class 1A all-state quarterback who was responsible for more than 100 touchdowns in his career garnered 16,518 of the more than 40,000 votes cast.
Sharp-armed Piedmont quarterback Tyler Lusk was second, followed by Donoho’s versatile Justin Foster Anniston receiver Tae Miller and Donoho lineman Axis Heathcock. The voting closed Sunday night.
Brackett’s total offense numbers were split almost down the middle – 1,441 yards passing, 1,468 yards rushing – while leading the Thunder to a playoff berth for only the second time in school history.
Read more about Brackett on his award at East Alabama Sports Today later this week.
