OXFORD – Gadsden City and Oxford both were looking to bounce back from losses over the weekend in the Holiday Hoops Challenge at Jacksonville State, and the 7A Titans used the 3-point shot and a deep bench to prevail, 76-47.
Eleven Titans scored as they sent wave after wave of players into the game, utilizing a full court press to create turnovers and easy buckets. They buried eight 3-points against the young but scrappy Yellow Jackets (4-9); Josh Juddine had four in the second half as the Titans (11-3) pulled away.
Gadsden City scored seven straight points at the end of the first quarter to open a 17-6 lead and extended the lead to 33-16 at halftime.
Querrian Mason and Jalen Moore came out scoring to start the second half as the Jackets scored five in a row to chop their deficit to 33-21. But that was as close as the Jackets would get as Juddine began to drill long bombs from outside and push the lead to 55-36 after three quarters.
The Titans’ depth took control in the final quarter.
Juddine led all scorers with 20 points, while Shon McKinney had 13, Kalin Johnson 12 and Chris Dudley 10 for Gadsden City.
Mason led Oxford with 12 points. Blaize Brimer had 11 on the strength of three 3-pointers. Jakolbie McClendon added five points and eight rebounds.

JACKSONVILLE – The Wildcats jumped out to a big early lead and coasted to their 10th victory of the season.
Eli Hightower scored all eight of his points in the first quarter and Murphy Doss had six as the third-ranked Wildcats (10-2) opened a 20-5 lead. Doss and Nathan Gilbert both scored 12 points in the game. Gilbert scored 10 in the second half.

ALEXANDRIA – Dakota Kelley scored 11 of his game-high 16 points in the second quarter as the Valley Cubs (6-2) pulled away to another one-sided victory. The Cubs had a five-point lead before outscoring the Indians 20-7 in the second quarter.
All six of the Cubs’ victories this season have been decided by at least 16 points and their last four by an average of 30 points.
Tyrelle Gay and Altdon Davis both added 12 points to the victory. Gay scored all of his points from beyond the 3-point arc. The Cubs hit 12 3-pointers in the game as a team.
Austin Tucker scored 12 points for Ohatchee, which was coming off its first win of the season.
Lincoln 67, St. Clair County 48
ODENVILLE – Dee Whiteside scored 15 points, L.J. Carmichael had 13 and Tyler Hemphill grabbed 10 rebounds as the Golden Bears (8-3) earned their second area victory.
The game sets up a big early area matchup Thursday with Alexandria.
“That would put us in the driver’s seat of the area and my kids so know it,” Lincoln coach Rush Rutledge said. “They understand how big the game is.”
The teams were locked in a tight game until Lincoln turned up the defense in a six-minute stretch of the third quarter and push its lead to 20.
