Blue Dolphins have big day

Youth swimmers have two high-pointers, two runner-ups, new regional qualifier

MONTGOMERY — The YMCA Blue Dolphins swim team had two high-point winners, two high-point runners-up and virtually every swimmer post personal best times at the YMCA Regional Championships this past weekend.
Molly Tiffner and Tessa Pacelli both won five events while winning the high points awards in 9-10 girls and 11-12 girls, respectively. Sterling Kelly and Cade Hilbun were runners-up in 9-10 boys and 11-12 boys points race, respectively.
Tiffner won 50 and 100 backstroke, 50 and 100 butterfly and 100 individual medley. Pacelli won the 50 freestyle, 50 backstroke, 50 breastroke and 50 and 100 butterfly. Tiffner also swam legs on the winning freestyle and medley relays (with Sophia Pacelli, Maya Montgomery and Gianna Pacelli).
The freestyle relay team won by more than 20 seconds, the medley relay by more than seven.
Other event winners included Kelly (100 butterfly), Hilbun (50 and 100 back, 100 free); Susanna Reeves (25 breaststoke); Vinson Montgomery (50 backstroke).
Montgomery joined a growing number of YBD qualifiers for the Southeastern Championships when she met the standard in the 50 freestyle with a third-place 31.01.
