Sacred Heart splits final regular-season twinbill

Cardinals boys beat Leeds, 69-57 for 11th straight win of 2015; girls lose 55-30, but hit first trey

Sacred Heart beat Leeds’ strategy of attacking inside with sharp outside shooting and hit nine 3-pointers to win 69-57 and extend its winning streak to 11 games.
Kevion Nolan and Kavarri Ross each hit four 3-pointers and finished with 22 and 16 points, respectively. Diante Wood added 15 points and had four blocked shots. D.J. Heath had 10, but was held to just one in the first half.
Girls
Leeds 55, Sacred Heart 30
Devan Hess hit six 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 25 points to lead Leeds. Ericka Byers had 21.
A 3-pointer brought the biggest cheer of the night, but it didn’t come from the Green Wave.
Sacred Heart senior Anna Kerper scored the Cardinals’ first 3-pointer of the season on the final play of their final regular-season game.
“It was the best feeling ever,” Kerper said. “All night long coach said ‘Find your shot, find your shot,’ and with three seconds left I found my shot.”
Zainab Sanusi led Sacred Heart with 16 points. She had 12 in the second half.
