A six-run fourth inning propelled Ohatchee to a big lead over Saks on the way to a 10-4 victory Monday afternoon.
The Indians (9-3) pounded out 8 hits in the fourth inning while extending their lead to 9-2. Maggie Phillips had the biggest blow of the inning with a two-run single.
Morgan Lee went 3-for-5 with three RBIs to lead the 16-hit attack. Daisey Hathorne had two hits and two RBIs. Taylor Hamm went 3-for-4 and Joria Steger had two hits.
Sara Martin had three walks and a single, and Shey Clements got the win on the mound.
“Our kids are off to a good start,” Ohatchee coach Rachel Pruitt said. “They want to win and we want them to just have fun, too.
“We came out and got real aggressive and made things happen. We had some good bunts and very aggressive base running, and that really helped. … We have really been slowed somewhat by the weather and not having much practice time.”
Laken Haynes knocked in two runs for Saks (2-8) in the first inning, scoring Lamonica Noel and Lanie Dreyer. Annabelle Shelley had an RBI single in the fifth inning.
