Munford archers in top 25

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Both of Munford’s teams in the NASP national archery tournament placed in the top 25 after Thursday’s opening day of competition.
Munford Elementary posted a score of 2832 and were ranked 21st at the end of the day. It was seventh when it finished shooting.
Blair Darby shot 269 to place seventh among elementary girls and sixth among fourth-grade girls. Tyler Ferguson shot 258, Sara Tipton 256 and Taylor Darby 255.
Munford Middle shot 3127 and stands in 16th place. Charisma MacKinney shot 281 and ranks 13th among middle school girls and fourth among eight-grade girls.
Heath Alldredge shot 275 (40th overall among middle school boys); Dustin Irvin 269 (21st among sixth-grade boys); and Amber Lakey 268.
“We were seventh in the nation when we first got our score; this is our team’s best score by far,” Munford Elementary coach Heather McMorris said. “It looks like they just keep getting better and better. All these excited archers can ask is ‘When is the world tournament?’
“We realize there are numerous archers and teams still left to shoot, but we can’t help but get our hopes up.”
The World Tournament is scheduled for July 23-25 in Nashville.
