The Arab City school board on Friday approved the hiring of White Plains baseball coach Chad Hudson as the next baseball coach for Arab High School.
Hudson also will be the junior high head football coach.
The board approved the hiring at a specially called meeting.
Neither Hudson nor White Plains officials would comment on the situation until Monday, when Hudson, currently out of the state, is said to be meeting with his Wildcats players. School officials in Arab did not return messages seeking comment Friday.
Hudson is expected to meet with the Arab players and supporters Tuesday.
According to sources in Arab, school superintendent John Mullins was “very much” impressed with the Hudsons. Principal Brad Cooper is a former White Plains educator.
Hudson was at White Plains for nine years.
