Simpson sharp in minors

Oxford product has yet to give up a run since signing his first pro contract earlier this summer
Tucker Simpson probably couldn’t have imagined a better start to his pro career.
The Oxford product has thrown the most innings in the Gulf Coast League this season yet to give up a run (13.2 IP/5 games), earned or otherwise.
It’s 18 innings in in seven games with zero runs allowed if you count his two Florida State League appearances in Jupiter shortly after he signed with the Miami Marlins.
And he didn’t give up a run in a wood-bat league in Georgia before he signed, either.
“It’s been fun for sure, but it’s kept me motivated to stay sharp between appearances and continue to try to get better,” he said of the scoreless streak. “At the end of the day, I realize that the next outing is the one that really matters, though.”
The big right-hander probably will have two more appearances depending on whether the Marlins make the GCL playoffs.
