Hearn, Trapp finish fast

Alexandria’s girls, Ohatchee’s boys win team titles at Oxford Lake

OXFORD – Jacksonville’s Rebecca Hearn and Alexandria’s Lane Trapp both used aggressive final kicks to win their individual races Saturday and Alexandria’s girls and Ohatchee’s boys won team titles in the ninth annual Waffle House/Yellow Jackets Invitational at Oxford Lake.

Hearn, a sophomore coming off a summertime ankle injury, ran 20:41.30 and used a new-found kick in the final 500 yards to pass Alexandria freshman Abby Nunnelly.

Trapp, a senior, ran 18:18.76 and was still strong at the end in winning by seven seconds over Justin Seymour of McEachern. Anniston senior Zebadee Lunsford was third.

Alexandria put its top three runners in the top five and six in the top 20, winning the girls title with 35 points. Ohatchee put its top four runners in the top 15 and won the boys title with 61 points.
