JACKSONVILLE — Michelle Lively said Jacksonville was the best team in the area last year and her Saks team could never quite solve it.
Friday night, the Lady Wildcats let the Golden Eagles know just what this team is about.
Senior Jordan Briskey led the way with her best game of the year as the Lady Wildcats thumped fifth-ranked Jacksonville 47-30 to take the upper hand in their area. She had 18 points and 15 rebounds.
Lively believes this team can really be a threat in the area this year. The Lady Wildcats are 8-3, their best start in two years.
“We were a young team for a long time,” Lively said. “These girls have played since they were in seventh grade together and it’s really exciting to see where they have come from and where they are going.”
Daja Johnson, another senior, had 11 points. Bre Browning had 10 points, six rebounds and five steals. And while Tayler Teague didn’t score, she grabbed 10 rebounds.
“Every time we step on the court we have a different set of girls step up,” Lively said. “Tonight it was Briskey and Browning leading the way. Who knows who it will be next time.”
The next time is in a tournament in Destin that starts Dec. 28.
This time it was Briskey who was the most dangerous player of the night.
“She is one our most physical players,” Lively said. “That makes her a threat every game.”
Jacksonville had one scorer in double figures. Senior Ataliya Morgan had 10 points. Aniyah Robinson netted 7 points and seven rebounds.

McCoy hit three 3-pointers in regulation and finished with 14 points. Kourtney Shuler also hit three 3s and had 11 points.
McCoy and Shuler combined for 11 points in the fourth quarter as the Lady Indians rallied from five down to force overtime.
