White Plains girls beats Alexandria in golf; Lincoln, Piedmont bring home softball victories

JACKSONVILLE – Layne Dyar and Morgan Prickett both shot rounds in the 70s to help the defending state champion White Plains girls defeat rival Alexandria at Stoney Brook Golf Course.
The Lady Wildcats posted a team score of 242-278. Dyar shot 77, while Prickett shot 79. The Lady Wildcats also counted an 86 from Hanna Dyar. Taylor Snow posted Alexandria’s low score, an 89.
In the boys match, the White Plains JV edged Alexandria’s varsity by two strokes. The Wildcats’ Andrew Miller had the low round (40), while Austin Smith (42) had the low round for Saks.
SOFTBALL
LINCOLN – The torrid hitting of the Lincoln softball team continued as the Lady Bears ripped 13 hits on the way to a 16-1 victory over Weaver.
The Lady Bears, who had 51 runs and 47 hits in five victories Saturday, got hits from 10 of 12 hitters in the lineup. Taylor Houck went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, while Victoria Mitchell hit two homers and drove in five runs. Kamryn Beasley also homered for Lincoln.
Rayanna Powell gave up three hits and struck out five in four innings in the circle for Lincoln.
In another game, Piedmont blanked Etowah 3-0.
