Ford’s clutch hit lifts Donoho over JCA, Lincoln softball gets gem, slugfest

Seth Ford’s two-out, bases-loaded single in the seventh inning drove home the winning run and lift Donoho past JCA 2-1 in an important area baseball game Friday.
Jesse McWilliams pitched a complete game, striking out eight and allowing one earned run. Garrett Steed had two hits for the Falcons, who are now 2-0 in their area.
SOFTBALL
Lincoln 2, Moody 0
Lincoln 18, John Carroll 3
In two games of extremes, Christavia Curry pitched a three-hit shutout against Moody and the Lincoln bats came alive against John Carroll.
Curry scattered three singles and faced only three batters over the minimum in the six-inning game. Sidney Wagnon reached base all three times she batted for Moody.
Taylor Houch drove in the first run of the game with a bases-loaded walk and Kamryn Beasley plated an insurance run with a sacrifice fly.
In the John Carroll game, the Lady Bears sent 12 batters to the plate in the first inning and scored eight runs. Laurel Hambric hit a three-run homer in the second inning. She finished with three hits and five RBIs.
