By East Alabama Sports Today
WEAVER: The Bearcats finished second to Piedmont in their sectional and qualified 19 athletes for their state meet in Cullman. Giovanni Mosley won the 100 and 110 hurdles, Brannon Bellar was second in the 200 and the boys 4×400 relay won.
Among the other placers were Maurice Goodman (100, sixth); Shamar Spinks (100, eighth); Gary Wallace (800, sixth) and Tayanna Perry (100, seventh).
Bearcats coach Marcus Herbert called it “a rewarding feeling” to have so many qualifiers.
“The quote hard work pays off came to light this weekend for both our boys and girls teams,” Herbert said. “It’s just a blessing to see so many athletes place.
“We even had a few softball and baseball players come out and they placed with, honestly, a week and a half of practice. Truly unbelievable.”
