Organizers anticipate their most successful tournament ever, projecting to raise more than $15,000 for its charity

The Buddy Moore Charity Classic has been waiting on go from the day entries were first accepted and it’s finally here.
Between the work done planning the tournament and on the Anniston Municipal Golf Course where it will be played this weekend, organizers anticipate this year’s event being their most successful ever. They are projecting to raise more than $15,000 for their designated charity.
Many of the players in this weekend’s field played in the 80th Calhoun County Championship at The Hill two weeks ago and raved about the course conditions, the fruits of the labor of the Men’s Golf Association and its volunteers.
Independent of the tournament, the Hill’s Big Tee Thursday scramble is scheduled for 5 p.m., but players are encouraged to call the pro shop well ahead of time to reserve a spot. Regular play will be suspended at 4:30.
Practice rounds for the tournament are available all day Friday for the cost of a cart, but the course closes at 6:30 p.m.
The MGA will be grilling both days and conducting 50-50 raffles each day. Donations will be accepted throughout the weekend and spectators are encouraged take in the action.
The field will compete in four flights, all named in honor of Moore, the longtime Hill pro, and his family – Buddy, Mary Ann, Scott and Angie.
