Local players begin play at Golf Channel Am Tour national championship; Reaves scores rare double eagle
By East Alabama Sports Today
PALM HARBOUR, Fla. — The three Calhoun County players in the Golf Channel Am Tour national championship had tough days Tuesday.
Lance Evans shot 6-over-par 76 on the Innisbrook Resort North Course and was among 10 players tied for 13th, seven shots off the pace in the Championship Flight.
John Lindsey, playing in the Jones Flight, shot 101 on the North Course. Trey Stone, playing in the Sarazen Flight, shot 97 on the Island Course.
“If the hole was an inch bigger I’d have shot 70,” Evans said. “It’s a game of inches. I didn’t play good at all, but I hit some good putts and nothing fell.”
SHOT OF THE DAY: Dennis Reaves scored a rare double eagle at Cherokee County Country Club Tuesday. Reaves scored his albatross on No. 14 with a driver and 5-wood from 220 yards.
