Lady Falcons fall to last year’s state soccer runner-up Westbrook Christian

The Donoho girls soccer team opened its season with a 4-2 loss to Westbrook Christian, last year’s state runner-up.
Lily Weidmer and Sonny Jenkins scored Donoho’s goals. Weidmer scored on a breakaway off an assist header by Constance Hodges. Jenkins scored on a 40-yard kick that just dipped under the crossbar. Both goals came in the first half.
Westbrook Christian answered the two goals and earned a 3-2 halftime lead.
Seventh-grader Maggie Wakefield opened the season in goal for the Lady Falcons and made 16 saves in the first half. Campbell Hagan played the second half and made nine saves.
The Falcons return to action Saturday with a girls/boys doubleheader against Jacksonville.
