Pleasant Valley wins the final two games of its tournament with last bats’ rallies; Perry’s walk-off homer wins semifinal, St. John’s single wins title

OXFORD — The championship game of the 16th annual Lady Raiders Invitational went down to the wire.
Alisa St. John’s two-run single with two outs in the top of the international tiebreaker broke a 2-2 tie and lifted Pleasant Valley to a 4-3 win over Cleburne County in the tournament’s title game at Choccolocco Park.
St. John also was the winning pitcher.
Atleigh Brannon had a solo homer among her two hits, while Savannah Williams and Mikayla Kendrick both had two hits with a double.
Pleasant Valley 5, Etowah 4: Kara Perry’s walk-off two-run homer sent the Lady Raiders (4-0) to the finals. It was her second homer of the game; she had five RBIs.
Alisa St. John and Taylor Williams both had doubles and Cortney Williams had a pinch-hit RBI single.
In other tournament games, White Plains blanked Saks, 9-0; Etowah edged Clay Central, 6-4; Cleburne County beat White Plains 5-0; and Clay Central blanked Saks, 2-0.
Oxford 11, Mountain Brook 1: Rylee Waldrep hit two doubles, drove in three runs and allowed two hits with 10 strikeouts in the circle, and the Lady Jackets put a crooked number on the board in every inning of the four-inning game.
Bailey Clark had two hits and two RBIs, Sarah Howell and Ashleigh Reaves each had two hits and Haley Lyner drove in two runs. The Lady Jackets stole 12 bases in the game. Waldrep faced only three batters above the minimum in four innings. She threw 55 pitches, 42 for strikes.
Oxford 5, Pinson Valley 0: The Lady Jackets scored two runs in the first inning on two-out singles by Brentli Champion and Amber Dempsey and JoJo Skinner made them stand by holding Pinson Valley to two hits. Bailey Clark also had two hits for the Lady Jackets.
Oxford 6, Jemison 2: Haley Lyner’s two-run single in the fourth broke a 2-2 tie and later Shelby Hicks ripped a two-run double highlighting a four-run inning that lifted the Lady Jackets to victory. Ashlyn Miller went 3-for-3 and Rylee Waldrep pitched another two-hitter with seven strikeouts.
Ohatchee 7, Ragland 4: The Lady Indians win their own tournament for the third year in a row.
