OXFORD — The raw weather that has settled in over the area has forced tournament officials to postpone today’s Calhoun County Baseball Tournament games and cancel the consolation game on the final day.
Top-seeded Oxford was scheduled to play No. 5 Alexandria and second-seeded Jacksonville to play No. 6 Piedmont.
Those semifinals have been moved to Tuesday 4:30 p.m. on the Choccolocco Park pod fields 1 and 2, with the championship game scheduled for 7 p.m. on the Signature Field. The tournament couldn’t use the Signature Field for the semifinals because of a Jacksonville State conflict.
Oxford-Alexandria will be played on Field 1 and Jacksonville-Piedmont will be played on Field 2.
“The ability to have multiple fields makes these changes very easy; the crew at Choccolocco Park do a great job of getting the fields ready,” said Ohatchee principal Bobby Tittle, the host principal and tournament director. “With having three regulation baseball fields, this allows for maximum flexibility when dealing with weather conditions.”
Be glad it’s not the Northeast. The region is gearing for a major snowstorm and who knows when they’d play.
