Ohatchee puts it all together to win in Choccolocco Park Spring Break Experience in its final game
By East Alabama Sports Today
OXFORD – After three frustrating losses in its Choccolocco Park Spring Break Experience this weekend, Ohatchee finally put it together in its final game Saturday.
The Indians lost two 1-0 games and another potential win to weather rules in their first three Experience games, but they rolled all that frustration into a 12-0 win over Cedar Bluff on the park’s Signature Field.
Some would say the Indians were due. They lost to Austin 1-0 despite pitching a no-hitter, lost 1-0 to Spring Garden despite nine hits and lost 7-5 to Cleburne County in a game they took the lead in the seventh only to have the inning erased by a thunderstorm.
On this day, however, they erupted for 10 runs in the first two innings and two pitchers held the top-ranked team in Class 1A to three hits.
“Like we told the kids before the game, we’re proud of them, they keep fighting,” Ohatchee coach Blake Jennings said. “We’re not playing bad baseball … we just couldn’t put it together.”
The Indians had this one all the way. They scored three in the first inning and then broke it open with seven in the second.
They batted around in the first and sent 11 men to the plate in the second. Jesse Sellers had a two-run double in the big inning and Baylee Graham had a two-run single.
Graham and Jaylon Jenkins each had two hits. Larry Noah also drove in two runs.
Taylor Eubanks and Grayson Alward held the Tigers to three hits and struck out eight. Eubanks pitched the first three innings and gave up two hits with six strikeouts to get the win.
