Calhoun County has only 2 teams ranked headed into state baseball playoffs; 4 teams ranked in state softball nominations

Piedmont and Oxford will be the only Calhoun County teams ranked heading into the state baseball playoffs.
The Bulldogs (19-10) head into their home playoff opener against New Hope (7-15) ranked No. 7 in Class 3A in the final statewide baseball rankings of teams nominated to the state sportswriters.
Oxford (28-11), meanwhile, is No. 5 in Class 6A headed into its playoff series at unranked Homewood (22-9).
In the softball rankings, recently crowned Calhoun County champion Oxford (43-4-1) remained No. 2 in Class 6A (behind Daphne). County runner-up Alexandria (29-10-2) is No. 3 in Class 5A heading to Handley Thursday (behind Springville and Rehobeth). White Plains is No. 7 in Class 4A. Pleasant Valley is No. 5 in Class 3A.

CLASS 6A: 1. Cullman, 2. Helena, 3. Decatur, 4. Spanish Fort, 5. OXFORD, 6. Hueytown, 7. Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa, 8. Hartselle, 9. Southside-Gadsden, 10. Saraland.
CLASS 3A: 1. T.R. Miller, 2. Gordon, 3. Oakman, 4. Mobile Christian, 5. Bayside Academy, 6. American Christian, 7. PIEDMONT, 8. Wicksburg, 9. Montgomery Academy, 10. Lauderdale County.
SOFTBALL
CLASS 6A: 1. Daphne, 2. OXFORD, 3. Gardendale, 4. Helena, 5. Saraland, 6. Chelsea, 7. Austin, 8. Hazel Green, 9. Southside-Gadsden, 10. Northview.
