Lincoln sweeps Round-Robin, PV blanks Saks in their final tuneups for area tournaments that begin Monday; schedule included

LINCOLN — Sixth-ranked Lincoln tuned up for its area tournament on Saturday by winning three games in sweeping its Round Robin.
The Lady Bears beat Piedmont 4-2, Leeds 6-2 and Leeds again 6-4 in the championship game. Leeds defeated Piedmont 6-0 in its other game.
The Lady Bears (38-14-1) ripped four doubles in the championship game. Carlee Mullinax had two, while Victoria Mitchell and Kamryn Beasley each had one.
Mullinax had six hits and four RBIs in the three games; she hit two homers in the first win over Leeds. Mitchell also homered in the first Leeds game.
Ray Powell pitched in all three games, giving up 10 hits. She threw a complete-game three-hitter with seven strikeouts against Piedmont.
“(This) was good because they were seven-inning games and getting some extra work will hopefully make us more prepared for the area tournament and regional,” Lincoln coach Shea Monroe said. “We were able to play a lot of our younger girls, which is good experience for them. I was very proud of the way we competed all day.”
Pleasant Valley 9, Saks 0: Olivia Jones and Leah Patterson combined for a one-hitter with nine strikeout and no walks on the Lady Raiders’ Senior Day.
Savannah Williams and Taylor Williams both went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.
Pleasant Valley finished regular season play at 23-22-1 and hosts the 3A Area 10 tournament on Tuesday.
