Here is a statistical update on the players from in and around Calhoun County in professional baseball this summer

Both of Calhoun County’s minor-league pitchers had rough outings in their only appearances last week.
Zach Lovvorn (Royals-AA) had his shortest outing of the season against Tulsa (Dodgers) on Thursday. He went 2 1/3 innings, giving up seven earned runs, nine hits, two homers and his ERA rose to 4.26 for the season. In his last three starts he has given up 25 hits and 13 earned runs.
Jackson Stevens (Reds-AAA) didn’t get out of the first against Norfolk (Orioles) on Wednesday. He went two-thirds of an inning, gave up eight hits and six earned runs.
Ranburne’s Chase Whitley (Rays-AL) had three appearances last week against Kansas City. He got five straight outs in the first two games and got through a clean seventh in his third appearance, but was pulled in the eighth after a hit and a walk and didn’t get out of the but the Royals reached him for two runs in the third straight appearance.
Among the hitters …
Jacksonville’s Shed Long (Reds-A) had a big three-game stretch in the middle of the week. He went 5-for-8 with two doubles and a run in the final two games of the Florida (Braves) series and followed it with a 2-for-5 game against Dunedin (Blue Jays)
Jacksonville’s Todd Cunningham (Cardinals-AAA) had a big week. He went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs against Iowa (Cubs) on Monday and went 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs against El Paso (Padres) on Saturday.
