Faith Christian to host area tournament for first time after sweeping JCA to claim regular-season area title; Oxford splits two matches

Senior Night for Faith Christian was an historical night for the Lady Lions Friday night.
The Lions clinched their regular-season area title and hosting rights for the area tournament for the first time when it swept Jacksonville Christian 3-0 (25-6, 25-9, 26-24).
“We came out strong and played well, then got a little bit lazy, but credit JCA for continuing to play hard,” Faith coach Justin Kisor said. “It meant a lot to us to host and these girls deserve it.”
Nicole Frechette led the Lady Lions (27-8) with eight kills, nine aces and two digs. Erin Cheek had 16 assists and Sydnee Johnson had five aces.

OXFORD SPLITS: The Lady Jackets split its two matches beating Homewood. They beat Brooks 2-0 (25-11, 25-13), but fell to Alexandria 2-0 (25-10, 25-16). The Lady Jackets are 18-18 at play in the Blalock Tournament at Homewood this weekend.
