Looking to see some strong Class 1A baseball this weekend? Six of the top teams in the classification are headed this way for Ragland’s North-South Challenge.
Here’s the schedule:
Friday’s Games

Sweetwater vs. Decatur Heritage at Pell City, 3 p.m.
Brantley vs. Hackleburg at Ragland, 4:30 p.m.
Hackleburg at Ragland, 7:30 p.m.
Saturday’s Games
Brantley vs. Decatur Heritage at Ragland, 9 a.m.
Sweetwater vs. Athens Bible at Ashville, 9 a.m.
Brantley vs. Athens Bible at Ragland, 11:30 a.m.
Sweetwater vs. Hackleburg at Ashville, 11:30 a.m.
Decatur Heritage at Ragland, 1:30 p.m.
“We all are friends from seeing each other in the playoffs through the years and all these guys are great people and excellent coaches; we just chose to do our thing at small schools,” Ragland coach Rodney Lipscomb said. “We respect each other’s programs and I’m glad they think enough of me and my program to travel three to four hours in March to come play. It should be great baseball.”

Speaking of what’s on the horizon, the seeding meeting for the Calhoun County Tournament is Sunday at Oxford. The results of this weekend’s games could have a huge bearing on the outcome.
