Thursday roundup: Pleasant Valley, White Plains, Ohatchee win in softball; PV, Glencoe’s Cole win in golf

GLENCOE – Pleasant Valley continued to pound the softball, collected 14 hits and hit two more home runs in a 12-1 area victory over Glencoe.
Bailey Harris hit a three-run homer to cap a six-run first inning outburst and Mikayla Kendrick hit a two-run shot in the second. Five players had multiple hits for the Lady Raiders. Mac Parris went 3-for-3, while Lindsey Pritchett, Savannah Williams, Kendrick and Rylee Haynes had two hits apiece.
“I’m just proud of my team and how they responded after Tuesday’s game (a 7-6 win over Glencoe),” PV coach David Bryant said. “We are hitting it well — 15 dingers on the year so far with five different players hitting them.”

White Plains 11, Jacksonville 1: Lily Ponder homered in a five-run first inning and Hannah Fortenberry scattered two hits and struck out seven in five innings for the Lady Wildcats. Isabella Pinto, Presley Whitten and Katy Roszell all had two hits for White Plains.

GOLF: Glencoe’s Cole, PV win at Silver Lakes
SILVER LAKES – Glencoe’s Lauren Cole shot 44 on the Mindbreaker 9 to win medalist honors and Pleasant Valley beat Hokes Bluff in the team competition in a girls match at Silver Lakes.
Cole won by 12 shots over Katie Knight of Pleasant Valley. Knight led the Lady Raiders to a team score of 180, 12 shots better than Hokes Bluff. Glencoe and Southside also sent golfers to the event.
