Piedmont and Weaver both split two games, Oxford falls in eight innings

Vestavia Hills 2, Oxford 0: Ben Saway’s two-out 0-2 single in the top of the eighth drove home two unearned run to break a scoreless tie. Rebels pitchers Garrison Cherry and Bob Minor held the Yellow Jackets to two hits – a double by Tate Adams and a single by Trey Higgins. Three Oxford pitchers gave up only five hits.
Piedmont 4, Moody 3: Courtesy runner Jakari Foster scored the go-ahead run from second on Cole Chasteen’s two-out single to center. Piedmont’s Sean Smith tied the game with a solo homer in the fifth. Mason Mohon pitched a complete game, giving up seven hits and striking out five.
Hickman (Mo.) 15, Piedmont 5: The Kewpies broke open a close game with a seven-run fifth inning and held the Bulldogs to two hits – fifth-inning singles by T.J. Fairs and Brant Deerman.
The Bulldogs tied the game with two runs on wild pitches in the second and took a 3-2 lead with a run on a passed ball in the third.
Lawrence County 5, Ohatchee 2: Kevin Williamson went 4-for-4 and the Indians collected 10 hits, but Lawrence County broke a 2-2 tie with a run in the sixth and scored two unearned insurance runs in the seventh. Williamson and Devin Howell drove home the two Ohatchee runs.
