GOLF: White Plains second at Chesley Oaks
CULLMAN – Low medalist Ford Goldasich shot 4-under-par 67 and his four teammates all shot 72 to lead Homewood to the Chesley Oaks High School Invitational Monday.
Homewood posted a 283 as a team. White Plains was second at 296.
The Wildcats’ Andrew Miller (70) and Nathan Griffin (71) finished second and third, respectively. Miller birdied his first two holes of the round and had four birdies on the day. Griffin birdied all three par-5s and had four birdies in the round.
White Plains’ B team finished fourth (318). Kenny Okins (76), Gage Miller (79) and Josh Davis (79) posted its lowest rounds.
Alexandria also was in the field. Hunter Watts led the Valley Cubs with a 2-over 73.
SOFTBALL: Alexandria 13, Southside 2
Maggie Phillips homered and drove in four runs and Mattie Wade had two hits and three RBIs to lead the Lady Cubs. Alyssa Carrisales went 2-for-3 with three runs and Allison Bonds had two RBIs. Emmah Rolfe struck out five in the six-inning game.
Ohatchee 20, TCC 0: The Lady Indians erupted for 11 runs in the first inning and Kylee Barnes returned all nine batters she faced with six strikeouts in the three-inning game.
Sydney Clements drilled a three-run homer, Jazmine Adams had a two-run triple and RBI single in the first inning.
Clements had four RBIs in the game and Ashley Doss went 4-for-4 with three RBIs. Autumn Widgeon (two hits) and Regan Snow (three hits) both drove in a pair of runs.
BASEBALL: Pleasant Valley 10, Lincoln 1
Nine-hole hitter Triston Salster hit three doubles and drove in three runs and leadoff man Reagan King had three hits and three RBIs. Caden Turner and Brody Phillips both had two hits and two RBIs and Drew Bonds had two hits.
Salster also pitched a perfect seventh inning on eight pitches after Phillips threw six strong innings with five strikeouts.
Ragland 17-13, TCC 1-0: The Purple Devils had their way with the Tigers. They sent 20 batters to the plate in a 13-run first inning of the first game.
