Saks celebrated its rise to No. 1 in Class 3A by scoring the first 41 points of the game and rolling up more than 400 yards of offense in a 41-14 win over Pleasant Valley.
The Wildcats (5-0, 3-0) were elevated to No. 1 for only the second time in school history earlier this week and are tied with No. 2 Piedmont as the only undefeated teams left in Class 3A Region 6. The teams play Oct. 5 in their next region games.
Roilan Torres was the Wildcats’ leading rusher with 127 yards on eight carries. Johnathon Cobb rushed for 84 yards on 15 carries and had a touchdown rushing and receiving.
Torres and Daveon Dukes were a combined 7-of-7 passing to six different receivers for 115 yards. Torres threw one pass – a 47-yard touchdown to Cobb.
Cameron Green (50), Alex Parris (49), Ashton King (44) and Colton East combined for rush for 174 yards for PV (1-3, 0-3). King also caught two passes for 51 yards.

Darrian Meads rushed for two touchdowns and Ashton Gulledge accounted for two more as the second-ranked Eagles (4-0, 3-0) scored 28 straight points after Anniston’s Kevin Escareno opened the scoring with a 27-yard field goal.
Meads rushed for 143 yards on 26 carries and scored on runs of 1 and 22 yards. Gulledge rushed for 38 yards and completed 6-of-9 passes for 94 more.
Darionta Bell was the leading rusher for the Bulldogs (2-2, 2-1) with 89 yards on nine carries. Most of his yards came on a 61-yard burst in the third quarter that stopped the Eagles’ scoring run.

GLENCOE – Big plays were the order of the night and the Panthers (3-2, 1-2) used plenty to earn their first region victory of the season and snap a two-game losing streak.
Calvin Spinks (21 yards), Jett Smith (35), Kentrez Hunt (85) and Khavion Wesley (40) all scored touchdowns on runs of 20 yards or more. Spinks scored two touchdowns in the game and Smith had a 65-yard run to set up Spinks’ first score.
The Panthers outgained their hosts 242 yards to 25 at halftime and twice stopped them on downs in the red zone.
Glencoe (0-4, 0-3) suffered its 12th straight overall loss and 12th straight region loss.
Ohatchee 37, Westbrook Christian 30
RAINBOW CITY – Domonique Thomas scored three touchdowns, Grayson Alward scored two and the Indians finally shut down Westbrook’s comeback bid with an interception at the 5 with 1:25 to play.
Thomas scored on runs of 55 and 4 yards and had an 87-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Alward scored on runs of 82 and 51 yards.
The Indians (4-0, 3-0), ranked fourth in Class 2A, held a 37-22 lead after Alward’s second touchdown. Westbrook (3-2, 1-1) cut it to 37-30 with 3:29 to play and recovered an onsides kick, but the Indians thwarted the bid to score when Cade Williamson intercepted a pass in the red zone.
