JACKSONVILLE – Chase Vinson scored his 18th double-double in 19 games and two other JCA players scored in double figures leading Jacksonville Christian to its fifth straight win Monday, 73-32 over Gaylesville.
Vinson scored 24 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. It was his fifth straight double-double since the start of the new year. During the stretch, which coincides with the Thunder’s five-game winning streak, he has averaged 19.4 points and 15.2 rebounds.
Eli Fair scored 11 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dealt six assists for JCA (15-4). Nash Messer scored 10 points. Kobe Messer had eight points and seven boards.
CLAY CENTRAL 65, SAKS 42
LINEVILLE – Noah Higgins hit five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 17 points as Clay Central defeated Saks in a matinee rematch of the Vols’ season opener.
Clay Central was only days removed from its Class 5A football state championship when the teams first played in mid-December.
The Vols hit four 3-pointers in the first three quarters and five in the fourth quarter.
Higgins was one of three Vols to score in double figures. Paul Garrett had 14 and Shamari Simmons had 11.
Zay Elston led Saks with 13 points. He hit three 3-pointers.

TALLADEGA – The Tigers came out hot, shooting 16-of-25 from the floor in the first half to open a 23-point lead, and cruised to their 11thwin in a row. The Tigers haven’t lost since dropping a 74-58 game at Oxford in mid-December.
Kobe Simmons knocked down 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his fourth straight double-double. He is averaging 19.8 points, 11.8 rebounds during the stretch and 18.4 points, 11.0 rebounds since the first of the year.
Chaztin Tanner led Talladega with 16 points, including three 3-pointers. Rontavious Barclay had 13.

OHATCHEE – The Indians survived a barrage of 3-pointers from their visitors in the first quarter, then pulled away in the second quarter to take control of the game.
Seven different players scored for Ohatchee in the second quarter as it pulled away from a 22-20 deficit to a 42-23 halftime lead. The Indians extended it with a 19-point third quarter.
Cameron Foushee scored nine of his game-high 18 points in the first quarter and had 11 in the first half. He was one of three players with four points in the third. “He was taking advantage of steals and knocking down 3s,” Indians coach Bryant Ginn said. “His shot has come along over the last couple weeks and he’s shooting with confidence.”
Lucas Hampton hit three of Cedar Bluff’s five 3-pointers in the first quarter and finished with a team-high 13 points.
