Alexandria’s Maggie Phillips retired all nine Ashville batters she faced – seven by strikeout – in a 17-0 three-inning perfect game. Phillips threw 35 pitches, 26 for strikes, and actually went to a 3-0 count on the first batter she faced in the game. Her other two outs were groundouts. She had thrown a no-hitter earlier this year.
Phillips also had three RBIs in the game, as did Lanie Dreyer. Addie Jennings went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Daisy Bowie went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Logan Irwin also drove in a pair of runs for the Lady Cubs.
White Plains sweeps meet:The White Plains boys and girls track teams tuned up for Monday’s Calhoun County Meet by winning their first home meet of the season.
The boys scored 173 points and more than doubled the production of runner-up Sand Rock (88). The girls scored 160 points and won by 26 over Sand Rock.
