Wellborn’s Smith, Piedmont’s Hayes, Smith among top honorees
Wellborn all-state athlete Jett Smith was named Region MVP and was joined by Piedmont’s Jack Hayes and Steve Smith, and Randolph County’s Nick Sims as the top award winners on the Class 3A Region 5 all-region team released Monday.
Piedmont’s Smith was named coach of the year, his quarterback Hayes will the offensive player of the year and Randolph County’s Sims was defensive player of the year.
Here are the players earning all-region recognition
B.B. COMER: Brian Bradford, Devonta Carmichael, Rapheale Johnson, Julius McCain, Coby McCain.
PIEDMONT: Bryson Ingram, Jakari Foster, Landon Smart, Silas Thompson, Sean Smith, Brant Deetman, Trey McFarland, Elijah Johnson.
WELLBORN: Dalton Gilbert, Dylan Gilbert, Kentrez Hunt, Calvin Spinks, Brandon Morales, Harley Kendall.
WEAVER: Devontae Hillard.
SAKS: Zay Elston, Hunter McCleod, Leonta Jones.
PLEASANT VALLEY: Colton East, Colby Nelson, Cole Proper, Dalton Mize.
GLENCOE: Daniel Maye, Levi Long.
