RANBURNE – Camden Wilson’s layup with less than five seconds to play to put White Plains ahead and the Lady Wildcats held their breath as buzzer-beating 3-point heave rattled in and out of the basket to secure a 44-43 victory over Ranburne.

Wilson, White Plains’ second-leading scorer with eight points, missed three free throws earlier in the quarter that could have extended the Lady Wildcats’ lead. Instead, Ranburne went up by one with under a minute to play.

Wilson then beat the trap down the sideline and laid up her bucket to put the Lady Wildcats ahead with a few seconds remaining. Ranburne got off a shot from half-court at the buzzer that went in and out.

Lily Ponder, who along with Callyn Martn, got caught up in a third-quarter altercation in Monday night’s win over Lincoln, was White Plains’ leading scorer with 13 points. Kaylee Johnson also scored eight for the Lady Wildcats.

Faith games postponed

Faith Christian postponed its girls and boys games with Ragland Tuesday after the Lions had two varsity girls players test positive COVID-19. Faith officials will try to reschedule the game. In the meantime, whether one or both of the Lions’ programs will undergo quarantine remains “to be determined,” school officials said.

Jacksonville’s girls canceled their game with Alexandria because illness and injury has limited their roster; the boys still played. The girls teams from Weaver and Pleasant Valley and the boys team from Donoho are all currently under COVIID-19 quarantine until Dec. 8 at the earliest. The Pleasant Valley boys have just been released from quarantine.
