PIEDMONT – The Piedmont Bulldogs have been such a regular team in the Northeast Regionals, perhaps the bracketologists should just give them a permanent line the bracket.
The Bulldogs earned their seventh straight trip to the Class 3A Northeast Regionals Wednesday night with a 56-45 victory over Childersburg.
The Bulldogs (17-7) will play Fyffe in Friday’s Sweet 16.
Alex Odam and Omarion Foster scored all 17 of Piedmont’s points in the second quarter as the Bulldogs went on a 17-4 run to open a 30-15 halftime lead.
Foster scored all eight of his points in the quarter. He also grabbed 17 rebounds in the game and had three assists.
Odam, Piedmont’s all-time boys leading scorer, led the Bulldogs (17-7) with 29 points. He shot 11-of-23 from the floor and dealt three assists.
Jakari Foster grabbed nine rebounds and had four steals.

ONEONTA – Tanner Wilson scored 29 points and Ethan Burrage posted a double-double to lead the Thunder back into the Class 1A Northeast Regionals.
Wilson also recorded four rebounds, four assists and six steals. Burrage fueled his double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, and added four assists.
Tavian Alexander came close to a double-double with eight points and nine rebounds. Drake Shew chipped in six points and five boards.
The Thunder (18-8) will play Skyline in the Sweet 16.
Ragland 78, Sumiton Christian 35
RAGLAND – Matt Trammell scored all 20 of his points in the first half and was among four scorers in double figures that led the Purple Devils to their first berth in the regionals since 2014.
Josh Phillips had 18 points, C.J. Lawler 16 and Jordan Turner 11 for Ragland. Lawler and Trammell combined for 23 points in the first quarter as the Purple Devils roared to a 51-15 halftime lead.
Ragland will play either Woodville or Decatur Heritage in the 1A Northeast Regional semifinals Friday.
