The game was fast-pitch, but the score resembled something out of the old slow-pitch days.

Oxford outslugged White Plains 17-15, scoring 11 runs in the fifth inning to get back in the game and getting Tia Titi’s two-run homer in the seventh to take the lead.

In addition to the 32 runs, the teams combined for 27 hits, 14 extra-base hits and 48 base runners.

Titi homered twice, including the go-ahead two-run bomb in the top of the seventh, and got six RBIs. She hit a solo homer in the third, a two-run triple in the first and drew a bases-loaded walk in the fifth.

The Lady Jackets sent 15 batters to the plate in the fifth to score 11 runs and take a 15-8 lead. Ellie Derrick hit a two-run homer in the inning.

White Plains got two in the fifth and five in the sixth to tie the game at 15.

Justice Woods, Derrick, Titi and Riley Rhodes went a combined 9-for-16 with four walks and 10 RBIs for Oxford. For White Plains, Lily Ponder went 5-for-5 with four doubles and four RBIs, and Adriana Sotelo went 4-for-4.

Cleburne County 3, Clay Central 0: Jayci Boozer pitched a one-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts, faced the minimum 21 batters and hit a solo homer to cap the Lady Tigers’ three-run second inning.

The only hit Boozer allowed was bunt single by Sydnee Reaves leading off the seventh. Reaves was caught stealing two pitches later. Boozer went to a 3-0 count on the game’s leadoff hitter, then went to three balls on only one other batter in the game.

Ohatchee 16, Gadsden City 0: The Lady Indians scored 10 runs in the second inning and Hanna Fitch retired all nine batters she faced on 39 pitches in the three-inning game. Alyssa Davis had an RBI double in the second and a two-run homer in the third. Alanah Fitch and Abbi Whitehead both had a pair of hits and Ellie Carden had two RBIs.

Pleasant Valley 18, Weaver 0: Lily Henry went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and Madyson Cromer drive in five runs as the Lady Raiders won their area opener. Madison Borders and Ava Boozer both had two hits with a double and two RBIs. Leah Patterson, Borders and Henry combined on the shutout.
