JACKSONVILLE – Alexandria volleyball coach Whitney Welch has been seeing signs that her team’s offense is clicking better and Tuesday night it spread the wealth in a four-set victory over Pleasant Valley.
The Lady Cubs beat their county rivals for the second time in a week, this time 25-17, 24-26, 25-20, 25-21.
Lexi Weber dominated at the net, scoring 18 kills and seven blocks. Kailey Dickerson had 10 kills and Kandyn Blankenship had nine. Seven different players scored kills for the Lady Cubs.
Crossley Sparks made it all work with 36 assists.
Rylee Haynes and Allie Bryant led PV. Haynes had 20 kills and 21 assists, while Bryant 13 kills and 27 assists.
“The girls played hard,” PV coach Dana Bryant said. “We’ve played a tough schedule early on and are getting stronger and gaining valuable experience.”

Oxford drops area match
OXFORD – After getting back on the winning track Monday, Oxford played three tight sets against Springville, but lost 3-0 and fell to 0-2 in its area. The set scores were 28-26, 25-22, 25-20.

Munford held off B.B. Comer in a tight first set, then dominated the rest of the night in a 3-0 sweep. The set scores were 25-23, 25-9, 25-10.
