Another winning weekend

Donoho wins second tournament title of the year, going 4-0 in Albertville Invitational

Donoho won its second volleyball tournament title of the season Saturday when it won four matches, including beating host Albertville in straight sets in the finals, to win the Albertville Invitational.

The Lady Falcons beat Fyffe (25-16, 22-25, 15-10); Jacksonville (25-22, 25-14); Hartselle (24-26-25-14, 15-7); and Albertville (25-20, 25-15).

No MVP was named, but if there were one, Donoho’s Maggie Wakefield would have been a leading candidate. She led the Lady Falcons (17-2) with 41 kills, 42 digs, four blocks and six aces.

Lily Grace Draper had 31 kills and 42 digs in the four matches, Mercy Mangum had 22 kills and 18 digs, and Sam Wakefield had 37 digs and 95 assists.

Wildcat Invitational

Spring Garden won White Plains’ Wildcat Invitational.

Host White Plains went 1-2 in its event, beating Weaver 2-1 and losing to Spring Garden and Cleburne County 2-0. Kassidy Ledbetter had 17 kills, 15 digs and four aces for White Plains. Isabella Higgins had 10 kills and Leighton Arnold had nine. Courtnee Masson had a team-high 17 digs and three aces.
