Donoho didn’t lose a beat after locking down the No. 1 seed in the Calhoun County Volleyball Tournament, Pleasant Valley justified its No. 4 seeding and Ohatchee took a swipe at its seeding with straight set victories Thursday night.
Donoho, the undisputed No. 1 seed for the Oct. 2-4 county tournament, beat Ragland 25-9, 25-15, 25-10, winning for the 13thtime in its last 14 matches.
Lily Grace Draper had 11 kills and five aces to lead the Lady Falcons. Maggie Wakefield had 14 digs, Sam Wakefield had 17 assists and Ayesha Siddiqua had nine assists.
The Lady Falcons (25-3) return to the court Saturday hosting the Donoho Classic and they don’t have an easy draw. They have Westminster-Oak Mountain, Holy Spirit and Spring Garden in their pool. Pool B has Faith Christian, Cedar Bluff, White Plains and Munford. Pool C is Weaver, Fayetteville, Ragland and the Donoho JV.
PLEASANT VALLEY SWEEPS: Pleasant Valley got to .500 with 2-0 victories over White Plains (25-11, 25-23) and Cleburne County (25-23, 25-14).

Gracie Davis, one of the team’s two seniors, was pressed into serving duties and delivered at 91 percent with one ace.
OHATCHEE MOTIVATED: Ohatchee (13-4), installed as the No. 7 county seed, took down homestanding Piedmont (17-5), the fifth seed, 25-18, 25-19, 25-15.
Jorda Crook had a big night with 16 kills, four blocks, four aces and eight digs. Rachel Dunaway had six kills and 14 digs. Millie Rainwater had 19 assists and three aces, and Hannah Fitch, Ellie Carden and Gracyn Snow recorded five digs each.

WESTBROOK DELIVERS: Sophomore outside hitter Raegan Harrell delivered 17 aces to lead a huge serving night for Westbrook Christian in a 25-12, 25-13, 25-14 win over Gadsden City.
“She had a great night serving and hitting,” Westbrook coach Denise Mattison said of Harrell. “She’s a hard worker. She was able to mix up a stronger serve with a softer one. We’ve talked about mixing it up. It really worked well (Thursday night).”
The Lady Warriors (8-5) served up 25 aces in the match. Brielle Wood had 12 of the team’s 14 assists and Raylee Neal had 10 of its 21 digs.
