Donoho ran its record against in-county opponents this season to 11-0 and validated its victory in the Donoho Classic with 2-0 sweeps of Ohatchee and Spring Garden Thursday night.
The Lady Falcons, top-ranked and top-seeded in next week’s County Tournament, beat Ohatchee for the second time this season 25-11, 25-21, and beat a Spring Garden team that took them to three sets in last weekend’s Donoho Classic final, 25-9, 25-21.
Donoho played without Lily Grace Draper, but coach Jamie Clendenin moved some pieces around and the Lady Falcons made due. He played Maggie Wakefield on the outside and let Estella Connell and Mary Marshall Perry run the middle. Meanwhile, Ansley Simmons came in on the right side and Hannah Sprayberry and Mercy Mangum stepped in on serve/receive.
The Lady Falcons (34-3) had to work to close out Ohatchee. They were leading the second set 18-10, then Lady Indians standout Jorda Crook zipped off seven straight kills to close the gap.
