UPDATED AREA TOURNAMENTS: Faith Christian wins coin toss to host 1A Area 10 boys tournament; JCA wins toss for 3 seed; adds area crossover

JACKSONVILLE – First-year Faith Christian basketball coach Cory Hughes has the utmost confidence in his players, but he had to admit when the coin went in the air he was “the most nervous I’ve been all year.”
Hughes allowed his players to decide which side of the coin he would call if he had the opportunity in the coin toss with Ragland for the No. 1 seed in Class 1A Area 10. Brodie Dodson said “heads,” so that’s what Hughes called.
That’s what came up Monday and now the Lions will host the boys tournament starting Feb. 10 against the winner of next Monday’s Donoho-Coosa Christian play-in game at Donoho. No. 2 Ragland will play No. 3 Jacksonville Christian.
“When that coin went up my stomach dropped; that’s the most nervous I’ve been all year,” said Hughes, who said he was prepared to call heads before Dodson’s assist. “That was one of the things we were hoping to accomplish this year – win the area and host for the first time in a long time – and thanks to a coin toss we can. I’m super pumped.”
