PIEDMONT – Emily Farmer pitched a complete game and Savannah Smith capped an MVP series with a sacrifice fly in the sixth to lead Piedmont over Ohatchee 5-2 for the Class 3A Area 11 tournament title.
Both teams will advance to the regionals.
Farmer struck out eight and gave up six hits, but only one after Ohatchee closed to within 3-2 in the third.
The Lady Bulldogs took a 3-0 lead in the second on Z’Hayla Walker’s sacrifice fly and Sarah Goss’ two-run single.
Ohatchee closed to 3-2 on Hanna Fitch’s sacrifice fly and Kylee Barnes’ RBI single. Piedmont tacked on insurance runs in the fifth and sixth.
Smith led five Piedmont players on the all-tournament team. In the Lady Bulldogs’ three tournament games, she hit .364 with three doubles, four runs, seven RBIs and two stolen bases. She also pitched five scoreless innings in the circle with a win and a save.

Ohatchee 2, Pleasant Valley 1: Whitney McFry singled up the middle with two outs in the bottom of the eighth to secure the Lady Indians’ trip to the regionals and send them into the championship game. PV’s Lily Henry tied the game with an RBI ground out in the top of the seventh.
Southside 11, Oxford 0: Jalyn Allen went 3-for-4, Jovi Marble drove in three runs and Lexi Darnell held the Lady Jackets to four hits in an area tournament elimination game.
