Webb, Elliott set Donoho school records while Falcons go on homer frenzy against Gaston, wrap up area title; Jacksonville, Munford clinch area titles; Piedmont tops Boaz

Lucas Elliott passed Hall Billings for most career hits in Donoho history, and Peyton Webb hit a walk-off grand slam to end the Falcons a doubleheader sweep of Class 2A, Area 13 foe Gaston.
Donoho won 13-1 and 13-3 to improve to 15-1 overall, 9-0 in area play and clinch the area title.
Elliott went 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, two runs and five RBIs in Game 2. He was 5-for-7 on the day and raised his batting average to .638.
Elliott, who has signed to play for Wallace State-Selma Community College, finished the night with 131 career hits to pass Billings, a first-team All-Calhoun County player on the Falcons’ 2019 Class 1A quarterfinalist team.
Webb homered twice in the second game, including a grand slam to end it, and once in the first game. With 10 home runs this season, he established a new single-season school record and added to his career mark.
He was one of three Donoho players to homer in Game 2, joining Elliott and Marcus Lawler. Lawler’s home was his first. Blake Sewell also hit hits first home run for Donoho.
Nic Thompson hit his third home run of the season as part of a 4-for-4 day and added seven runs to his school career record (109).
MUNFORD 5, HANDLEY 1: Brody Stephens went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Munford clinched the Class 4A, Area 8 area title.
Jonathan Ponder doubled and scored two runs, and B.J. Anderson drove in a run.
R Brown pitched six innings, allowing four hits, three walks and one earned run with 10 strikeouts. Anderson pitched a scoreless inning of relief, striking out the final batter to get the save.
JACKSONVILLE 12, WHITE PLAINS 2: Will Greenwood went 2-for-3 with a double, run and four RBIs, and Jacksonville clinched the Class 4A, Area 9 title.
Jim Ogle had a single and two RBIs, and Drew Pridgen singled with two RBIs.
Gavin Peeler went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Drake Loggins had a triple and scored three runs, and Grant Patterson hit a double.
Ryan Mitchell pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing seven hits and two earned runs with four strikeouts. Matthew Parker retired the final two batters.
White Plains’ Braxton Curles went 2-for-3 with a double and a run. Flynn Tillison and Luke Messer had an RBI apiece.
PIEDMONT 6, BOAZ 1: Kale Austin went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Piedmont jumped out to a 6-1 lead with five third-inning runs and held off Boaz.
Jack Hayes doubled and drove in a run, and Max Hanson had a triple, RBI and two runs.
Trevor Pike had a single and RBI.
Brodie Homesley worked the first four innings and got the win. Hayes got the save, working the final three innings.
RAGLAND 15, JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 14: An 8-run fourth inning helped to propel Ragland.
Casey Phillips went 2-for-4 with a home run, double, two runs and four RBIs.
Skyler Barber went 4-for-4 with a double, two runs and four RBIs. Brayden Byars went 3-for-5 with a double, run and three RBIs, and Jake Donaldson was 2-for-4 with a double two runs and two RBIs.
JCA got four RBIs apiece from Travis Barnhill and Cam Moses and three from Richard Dupree. Moses and Barnhill each homered, and Barnhill hit a triple. Dupree had two doubles.
