Prince, Brooks lead the way as Oxford sweeps trimatch at Munford. Lions split. Saks’ Ogle enjoys victorious return to coaching.

MUNFORD — Oxford swept a trimatch at Munford on Monday, beating White Plains 25-19, 25-12 and Munford 25-20,25-20. Munford beat White Plains 25-22, 28-26 in the other match.

SAKS SWEEPS: Michelle Ogle is back in coaching for the first time in three years, and Saks’ volleyball team gave her two wins Monday. The Wildcats beat Ragland 25-22 , 16-25, 15-7 and Gaston 19-25, 25-17,15-13 at Gaston.

Ogle didn’t immediately have statistics but credited senior Camrie Denhem, Dakari Jones, and A.J. Twymon for leading the way.

Ogle will also coach Saks’ softball team in the spring. She previously coached Saks’ softball and girls’ basketball teams,with her teams winning Calhoun County basketball titles in 2010 and 2016 and a county softball title in 2013 before her time away from the games.

“I had some unexpected life issues that got me out of coaching, but I couldn’t be more excited to be back in it,” she said. “It’s just in my blood. It’s what I’m passionate about.

“We really have a very young, very athletic group of kids coming up through Saks, and I think, with the right things in place, these girls will be something to watch this year!”
