OXFORD — Jaylen Alexander made five fourth-quarter free throws, and Oxford held off Plainview 58-56 on Thursday.
Alexander finished with 17 points.
Marcus Perry Jr. led the Yellow Jackets with 18 points, all in the first half. He hit four 3-pointers.
T.J. Allen hit three treys en route to 11 points.
Oxford (3-1) will play in the Heritage Classic Thanksgiving tournament at Fairfield on Monday.
JACKSONVILLE 83, TALLADEGA 62: Devin Barksdale led Jacksonville with 20 points. Jaquan Ervin added 18 and Aaron Nixon 14. Sean Herbert scored 13 points to go with 14 rebounds and three blocks.
The Golden Eagles overcame 7-for-24 free throw shooting with 16 steals and a 34-25 rebunding edge.
Jacksonville will play host to Plainview on Tuesday.
WHITE PLAINS 77, FAITH CHRISTIAN 54: Josh Wheeler led balanced scoring for White Plains with 13 points, and the Wildcats improved to 1-1.
Paul Laube added 11 points, Cam Almon 10, Daniel Williams nine and Dylan Barksdale eight.
Will Smith led Faith with 13 points. Carson Harris and Eli Robinson scored 10 apiece.
White Plains will play host to Weaver on Friday and Faith plays host to Greene County on Monday.
WEAVER 64, ASHVILLE 56: Kaden Gooded scored 20 points, and Weaver outscored Ashville 22-13 in the fourth quarter to gain separation.
KeShawn Allen added 16 points with three of Weaver’s seven 3-pointers, and D.J. Marbury scored 13.
Weaver will play at White Plains on Friday.
JCA 70, ASD 30: Jesse Gannaway poured in 27 points as the Thunder beat Alabama School for the Deaf to improve to 2-0. He also had three assists and three steals.
JCA’s Bryson Dowdey added 17 points with eight rebounds and seven steals, and Noah Lee grabbed 17 rebounds to go with 13 points, four assists and two steals.
The Thunder will play at Ragland on Friday.
GASTON 61, OHATCHEE 46: Colby Hester paced Ohatchee with 16 points, and Jake Roberson added 10 in the Indians’ first game under first-year coach Kyle Wilson.
Ohatchee will play host to Ashville on Nov. 27.
MUNFORD 48, DONOHO 41: Lathan Stephens led Munford with 16 points, and B.J. Anderson added 12.
Girls
OHATCHEE 25, GASTON 18: Ohatchee opened life without Jorda Crook and with first-year head coach Aaron Jackson victorious.
Lindsey Zurchin hit three 3-pointers and led the Indians with nine points. Kiana Garber added seven.
Ohatchee will play host to Ashville on Nov. 27.
WEAVER 39, ASHVILLE 36: A, Marks scored 14 points to lead Weaver, and D.J. Gibbs’ steal and free throw provided the final margin.
Weaver opened the second half with a 7-0 run.
The Bearcats will play at White Plains on Friday.
PLAINVIEW 64, OXFORD 38: Ava Thomas scored 12 points and Xai Whitfield 11, but it was enough to overcome a big night from Plainview’s Lauren Jimmerson, who scored 28 with eight 3-pointers.
Oxford (1-1) will play host to Auburn on Tuesday.
WHITE PLAINS 62, FAITH CHRISTIAN 41: Cooper Martin hit seven 3-pointers en route to a game-high 27 points, and White Plains got its first win under first-year head coach Clay Sprayberry.
Martin hit four threes in a 14-point second quarter.
Abbie Dickeson added 13 points for the Wildcats (1-1).
Ally Folsom paced Faith Christian with 13 points, and Kayson Cronan added nine.
White Plains will play host to Weaver on Friday, and Faith Christian will play host to Randolph County on Monday.
JCA 54, ASD 20: Abigaila McNeal scored a team-high 16 points, and Katie Beth Hudson grabbed 15 rebounds to go with 10 points and three steals as the Thunder beat Alabama School for the Deaf to improve to 2-0.
JCA also got 15 points, eight assists and five rebounds from Addy Lee.
The Thunder will play at Ragland on Friday.
TALLADEGA 66, JACKSONVILLE 40: Jacksonville’s Alexis Phillips scored 23 points, but Talladega outshot Jacksonville 64 (29-for-45) percent to 25 percent (8-for-31) and had a 29-15 rebounding edge.
Jacksonville will play host to Plainview on Tuesday.
