Johnson, Arnold star as White Plains’ boys, girls gain sweep of Weaver. Jax Christian splits boy-girl doubleheader with Ragland. Southside girls roll.

WHITE PLAINS — Center Carter Johnson scored 18 points to lead White Plains’ boy to a 77-44 victory over visiting Weaver in Friday’s high school basketball action.
Paul Laube added 11 points, and Daniel Williams scored 10 as White Plains improved to 2-1.
Gabe King hit four 3-pointers and led Weaver with 18 points, and KeShawn Allen added 12.
RAGLAND 63, JAX CHRISTIAN 57: Noah Lee led JCA with 26 points and 14 rebounds. Bryson Dowdey added 13 points and five boards, and Jesse Gannaway had 11 points, six rebounds, two assists and three steas.
JCA is 6-1 on the season.
Girls
SOUTHSIDE 66, HOKES BLUFF 28: Grace Anne Rose led Southside with 21 points and six rebounds. Laylah Davis added 13 points, and Hannah Westcott scored 10.
Hokes Bluff’s Mazely Ball hit three 3-pointers and finished with 12 points.
WHITE PLAINS 47, WEAVER 38: Cassidy Arnold erupted for 25 points a White Plains downed visiting Weaver to improve to 2-1. She hit four 3-pointers.
Addi Bradley added seven points and Abbie Dickeson six.
Aaliyah Marks paced Weaver, matching Arnold’s 25 points.
JAX CHRISTIAN 38, RAGLAND 31: Addy Lee paced JCA with 18 points, and Sophie Williams added eight. Skylar Addison led Ragland with 11 points.
