WEAVER — Basketball is all about who’s playing best at the right time. Saks’ boys are making a case under first-year coach Wes Ginn.
Fresh of their victory at Piedmont earlier this week, the Wildcats got 16 points from Joshua Todd and beat Weaver 56-51 to finish second in Class 3A, Area 11,
Piedmont (5-1 area) will play host to the area tournament. Saks (4-2), Weaver (3-3) and Wellborn (0-6) round out the standings.

—Christian Hall: 12 points (two 3-pointers).
—Lajuan Curry: nine points.
—Dorrien Walker: seven points, six rebounds.
Weaver’s top performers:
—Gabe King: 16 points.
—KeShawn Allen: 15 points.
—D.J. Marbury: nine points.
WHITE PLAINS 53, PIEDMONT 35: Josh Wheeler hit two 3-pointers en route to 12 points, and Class 4A second-ranked White Plains (20-8) won for the fourth time this week.
White Plains’ other top performers:
—Coleman Ray: 11 points (three 3-pointers).
—Silas Hines: eight points.
—Daniel Williams: seven points (one 3-pointer).
Piedmont’s top performers:
—Jaylen Brown: 15 points (three 3-pointers).
—Chance Murphy: six points.
—Colton Proctor: six points.
JACKSONVILLE 71, CHEROKEE COUNTY 37: In Class 4A, Area 10 play, third-ranked Jacksonville (22-6) got 25 points from Dylan Barksdale. He hit five of 10 3-pointers.

—Aaron Nixon: 15 points (three 3-pointers).
—Jaquan Ervin: nine points, five rebounds, four assists, five steals.
FAITH CHRISTIAN 42, DONOHO 34: Conner Richerzhagen hit one 3-pointer on the way to 16 points, and Faith’s victory in combination with Winterboro’s victory at Wadley leaves the Lions in second place in Class 1A, Area 8.
Winterboro will play host to the area tournament.

SOUTHSIDE 63, LINCOLN 41: Mason Stephens paced Southside with 11 points and nine rebounds. The Panthers’ other top performers:
—Cayden Reason: 10 points, five rebounds.
—Reid Robinson: nine points.
—Silas Osborne: nine points.
—Coben Guest: nine points, six rebounds.
B.B. COMER, 65, ISABELLA 21: Raelon Sims scored 10 points, and Comer improved to 16-4 overall, 7-0 in Class 2A, Area 7.

—Kamore Harris: nine points.
—Malik Porch: eight points.
VALLEY HEAD 75, JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 67: Jesse Gannaway poured in 42 points to go with 11 rebounds, two assists, two steals to pace JCA.

—Bryson Dowdey: 11 points, four rebounds, two assists.
—Noah Lee: five points, 21 rebounds, three assists, one steal.

PIEDMONT 65, WHITE PLAINS 30: Ava Pope hit two 3-pointers on the way to 22 points to lead Piedmont.
