With one day to go in Huntsville, Weaver holds slim lead over Ashville in 1A-4A division, has eight wrestlers still active. Fulmer reaches championship final.(Includes rundown of wrestlers still active for area teams)

HUNTSVILLE — Top-ranked Weaver, seeking its third consecutive Class 1A-4A state wrestling title, takes a slim lead over Ashville into the third and final day of the state wrestling tournament.
The Bearcats lead the 1A-4A field with 115 points, eight ahead of second-place Ashville and 28 better Corner after Friday’s matches at Huntsville’s Von Braun Center. Competition concludes Saturday.
As for other area teams, Ranburne is seventh with 65 points, Piedmont 12th with 46, Cherokee County 13th with 41, White Plains 15th with 38.5, Cleburne County 16th with 37, Wellborn 22nd with 21, Pleasant Valley 29th with 12, Ohatchee 35th with seven and Saks 37th with two.
Class 5A competition started Friday, and Alexandria is 10th with 29 points. Lincoln is 12th with 18.
Oxford is 15th in 6A with 25 points.
Championship finals and consolation placement matches in all weight classes are Saturday.
Hoping to complete the sweep of the 1A-4A duals and conventional state titles, Weaver got Cael Fulmer through to the 106-pound championship final. Eyeing consolation finals are Haiden Hise (120), Dalton Fink (126), DaShawn Kirby Barnes (150), Caden Thornton (157) and Brandon Jolliff (215). Peyton Andrews (113) and Dylan Brown (138) will wrestle in fifth-place matches.
Ashville has three wrestlers set to compete in championship finals and four in fifth-place matches.
Highlights for other area teams:
Class 1A-4A
RANBURNE: Carter Driver (106) and Zaden Benefield (285) will compete in championship finals. Zack Buchanan (175) reached the consolation final.
PIEDMONT: Myles Bailey (106) and Caleb Tidwell (157) will compete in consolation finals.
CHEROKEE COUNTY: Kurtis Soles (132) and Andrew Young (150) advanced to championship finals.
WHITE PLAINS: Mason Hahm (120) reached his championship final. Tanner Jarrell (126) and Wesley Beebe (144) will wrestle for fifth place.
CLEBURNE COUNTY: Austen Mayfield (144) advanced to his championship final.
WELLBORN: Noah Screws (144) reached his consolation final, and Andrew Salter (285) eyes a fifth-place match.
PLEASANT VALLEY: Baron House (132) will compete for fifth place.
OHATCHEE: Jaxon Tuiolosega (126) will wrestle for fifth place.
SAKS: John Bussey (190) fell in a consolation second-round match.
Class 5A
ALEXANDRIA: Preston Jones (120) and Kaden Deline (144) reached consolation finals. Jeremy Lambert (106), Corey Owens (138) and Amorea Green (157) will wrestle for fifth place.
LINCOLN: Rhett Walters (190) is through to his championship final.
Class 6A
OXFORD: Tristan Williams (144) and Caleb Tinner (285) will wrestle for fifth place.
